![]() | Darwin is the tropical capital city of Australia’s Northern Territory. It has a relaxed outdoor lifestyle and enjoys warm weather all year round. Perched on a peninsula with sea on three sides, Darwin is an excellent base to explore the natural attractions of World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park, Litchfield and Nitmiluk National Parks, the Tiwi Islands and Arnhem Land. We would like to invite you to attend the 2009 ACEM Winter Symposium, which we are hosting in Darwin from the 24th to the 26th of June 2009. We are planning an exciting programme with focuses on emerging and tropical diseases, toxinology, indigeneous health, and trainee education. Our keynote speakers reflect these themes, and bring a wealth of local and international expertise to the symposium. Our venue for the symposium is the Holiday Inn Esplanade, situated on the Esplanade with sweeping views over Darwin Harbour. The Holiday Inn Esplanade is minutes from Smith Street Mall and the thriving social scene of Mitchell Street, making it an ideal venue for the symposium and for exploring the sights of Darwin. Darwin in late June can be seen at its best, with beautiful weather every day, vibrant markets and street life, easy access to Litchfield and Kakadu, and many tours and sightseeing activities available daily. Our programme gives an eclectic taste of the some of the highlights of Darwin, taking in opening drinks at the Northern Territory Parliament House overlooking the harbour, guided tours to remote communities, and visits to Crocosaurus Cove and the famous Mindil Beach Markets. The conference dinner will be held at Pee Wees at the Point, one of Darwins finest restaurants, where fine wine and dining will be complemented by the superb views of the sunset over Fannie Bay. We look forward to seeing you up in the Top End in June, and promise a fascinating and challenging scientific programme coupled with an opportunity to see the best of what the Northern Territory has to offer. See you soon |
