REGISTRARS TRAINEE DAY
The registrar’s trainee day is being held on Tuesday 23rd September. The cost is $20 per person to attend and you need to indicate on your registration form if you would like to attend. Places are limited so ensure you register as early as possible. This day is for registrars only.

HOSPICE TOUR
On Wednesday 24 September there is a planned tour of the Northern Territory Hospice. A bus will transfer delegates interested in this tour from the Holiday Inn Esplanade at 1530 and you will return back to the hotel by 1710. (Photo and more blurb to come)

The Royal Darwin Hospital Hospice has been opened since September 2005. As the Northern Territory's first purpose built palliative care unit it has become an integral and essential part in the provision of palliative care for Territorians, particularly in Darwin and the rural remote regions of the Top End as well as the occasional wandering Central Australian, interstate and oversees visitor.

Not only does the hospice provide a focus for community awareness of palliative care but its purpose build environment, which suits both indigenous and non-indigenous patients, their families and carers in end-of-life care, symptom management, respite and post treatment recovery and rehabilitation, has been recognised in the Royal Australasian Architect Society Awards for 2006.

Even though part of the Royal Darwin Hospital campus with access to all the facilities a tertiary hospital has to offer, the hospice retains its community engagement and feel through its location on the edge of the Casuarina coastal reserve as well as its in house arts program, RSPCA dog visiting program, craft and other group meetings. We are completing our latest project, the labyrinth and reflective garden project and hope that if you are interested we can give you a tour of the unit and highlights its unique qualities.

ARTS PROGRAM
Throughout the conference opportunities to experience local and traditional arts and performance are being planned.
